This weeks teaser comes from The New World by Winston Churchill.

The English Republic had come into existence even before the execution of the King. On January 4, 1649, the handful of Members of the House of Commons who served the purposes of Cromwell and the Army resolved that " the people are, under God, the orginal of all just power... the the Commons of England in Parliament assembled, being chosen by and representing the people, have the supriem power in this nation." (pg 241)
